Italian sports car enthusiasts have a new option as AC Motorsport unveiled a modern tribute to the classic Ferrari 308. Developed with engineering firm Michelotto, the vehicle carries the name Michelotto Gruppo 4 Tributo and aims for a pure driving feel rather than extreme performance.
Founder Francesco Calzavara started AC Motorsport two years ago after a stint at Michelotto. The Tributo resembles a restomodded 308 but sits on a custom tubular chassis and lightweight composite panels, giving it a fresh structural basis while echoing the original silhouette.
The car’s exterior mirrors the 308’s footprint. A low nose features a blacked-out grille, horizontal daytime running lights and pop-up headlights. Hood and front quarter panels retain the classic gills and vents, while flared fenders add a more aggressive stance.
Side details include sharp rocker panels, a large intake behind the doors, and star-shaped wheels wrapped in Pirelli tires. The rear carries a clamshell, black grilles, dual exhausts, an exposed carbon-fiber diffuser and four circular taillights, all recalling the original design language.
Power comes from a naturally aspirated 3.4-liter V8 delivering 380 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque, paired with a dog-leg manual gearbox. At a curb weight of 950 kg, the car is 140 kg lighter than the 1970s model, a notable advantage in today’s heavier market.
Compared with recent retro-styled projects, this model sticks closely to the original’s dimensions and weight targets, a discipline many contemporary reinterpretations overlook. They emphasize low mass and a manual gearbox to reinforce the goal of an engaging, driver-focused experience.
Inside, the cabin is functional. A flat carbon-fiber dashboard hosts a large central screen, surrounded by physical switches and dials. A three-spoke steering wheel, metal-gated shifter and carbon-fiber racing seats complete the cockpit, offering a straightforward layout that matches the car’s purpose.
The “Gruppo 4” name references the rally-spec versions of the Ferrari 308 GTB that Michelotto built for the World Rally Championship. No release date or pricing information has been announced for the new Tributo. AC Motorsport has not provided details on when the car will be available or how much it will cost.
