Nissan has revealed two new concept cars at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, celebrating 60 years of the Z model line. The Japanese automaker debuted a track-focused Z and a restomod Datsun S30, both designed to showcase performance heritage and enthusiast collaboration. While these are one-off projects, some parts could influence future production vehicles.

Project NAT2: A Race-Ready Z

The Project NAT2 is a Z-based concept built for SCCA Touring 2 racing. It was engineered by the Nissan Acceleration Team, which includes racing enthusiasts. The car meets strict SCCA class rules, featuring a 3.0-liter V6 with 38 mm restrictors on its turbochargers.

Key engine modifications include a Nismo cold air intake, a custom ECU tune, and a stainless steel exhaust. The car is also equipped with a Nismo heat exchanger and an aluminum oil pan. Performance is further enhanced by an upgraded engine oil cooler and a differential cooler.

Performance is enhanced by a full suite of suspension upgrades. The Project NAT2 uses Nismo coilovers, adjustable sway bar links, and polyurethane suspension and differential bushings. It also features aluminum subframe bushings and new engine and transmission mounts. Braking is handled by a Z1 Motorsports package, featuring six-piston front calipers with 380 mm two-piece rotors. The rear brakes remain stock, fitted with Hawk DTC-60 pads and braided stainless steel lines.

The car’s exterior is finished in a special white, blue, and red livery with 18-inch forged wheels. Inside, the cabin is stripped and race-prepped, featuring a roll cage, Sabelt racing seats, a Sabelt steering wheel, and a custom dashboard.

Datsun S30 Restomod with Modern Muscle

Nissan also unveiled a Datsun S30 Concept, created in partnership with Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg. This restomod combines a classic S30 body with modern performance parts. It retains the timeless design but features carbon fiber front fenders and bumpers painted in Seiran Blue.

The engine has been upgraded with the current Z’s 3.0-liter V6, now fitted with Garrett turbochargers, cold air intakes, and a new heat exchanger. It is paired with a six-speed manual transmission and a twin-disc clutch and flywheel. A 10-gallon fuel cell and a new fuel pump have also been added.

Stopping power comes from Wilwood brakes, with six-piston calipers and 11.8-inch (300 mm) discs at the front, and four-piston calipers with 11-inch (280 mm) discs at the rear. The suspension has been fully rebuilt with aftermarket coilovers, a new steering rack, billet tie rods, upgraded front and rear control arms, and new front and rear sway bars.
