BMW plans to introduce its iX4 50 xDrive in Canada during March 2027 at a base price of $79,900. The vehicle utilizes a 112.2-kWh battery pack to achieve a maximum range of 680 km. Additionally, a non-M iX3 M60, featuring 603 hp, will be released.
iX4 50 xDrive Specifications and Performance
The launch-spec 50 trim features one motor per axle, delivering a combined 463 horsepower and 476 lb-ft of torque. BMW estimates a zero-to-100-km/h time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h. Every iX4 comes standard with all-wheel drive, while the upcoming M60 xDrive will boost output to 603 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque.
The M60 variant reaches 100 km/h from zero in an estimated 3.9 seconds, with a top speed limited to 240 km/h. With optional equipment, towing capacity extends to 2,000 kg. The 112.2-kWh usable battery enables the iX4 50 xDrive to travel up to 680 km on a full charge, according to BMW estimates. Natural Resources Canada has not yet released official range certification.
The vehicle’s 800-volt electrical system supports DC charging at up to 400 kW, adding approximately 296 km of range in 10 minutes under favorable conditions. A 10%-to-80% charge takes about 21 minutes, while standard AC charging peaks at 15.4 kW. The sixth-generation battery uses cylindrical cells with 20% greater volumetric energy density than previous prismatic designs.
Design and Charging Technology
The iX4 shares an identical footprint with the iX3, measuring 4,782 mm long, 1,895 mm wide, and featuring a 2,897-mm wheelbase. At 1,607 mm tall, its sloping roofline contributes to a 0.23 drag coefficient, compared to the iX3’s 1,646 mm height. The dual-motor system pairs an electrically excited synchronous rear motor with a compact asynchronous front unit.

Bidirectional charging support enables vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-home applications via optional adapters. The included Multifunction Charger accommodates 120- and 240-volt outlets, while the optional 15.4-kW Wallbox Plus utilizes a NACS connector. Standard features include charging-route planning, battery preconditioning, Plug & Charge compatibility, and a power-operated charge-port door.
BMW’s Heart of Joy computer manages propulsion, regenerative braking, steering, and chassis functions up to 10 times faster than prior controllers. A double-joint front suspension and five-link rear layout come standard, with Adaptive M suspension optional on the 50 xDrive and standard on the M60. All iX4 50 models receive the M Sport package, including exterior trim, M Sport brakes, and 20-inch wheels.
Interior Technology and Audio
Inside, BMW Panoramic Vision projects information across the lower windshield, paired with a 17.9-inch central touchscreen running Operating System X. A 3D head-up display is available as an option. The standard panoramic glass roof spans the cabin, while the optional Highway Assistant permits attentive hands-free driving at speeds up to 130 km/h on compatible roads.
The base iX4 includes a seven-speaker audio system, with a 13-speaker Harman Kardon setup standard on the M60 and optional elsewhere. Nine exterior colors launch with ordering, followed by three additional finishes and BMW Individual selections in March. The M60 features larger 21-inch wheels and an electronically controlled rear M Sport differential.
iX3 M60 Details and Production
BMW also introduced the iX3 M60 xDrive in early October, marking the most powerful variant of its Neue Klasse electric SUV. Its dual motors produce 603 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque, achieving 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. The 112.2-kWh battery delivers up to 754 km range on the WLTP cycle or 646 km using EPA methodology.
