Lucid is extending the user experience of its Gravity electric SUV to the Air sedan, launching a new interface dubbed UX 3.0. The upgrade promises more flexible screen layouts, responsive displays and faster performance across the vehicle’s infotainment system.
Vehicles from the 2025 model year onward will receive the software change over the air. Owners of 2022-2024 model-year cars can obtain the same functionality by installing a new infotainment processor, a hardware kit priced at $950.
According to Marc Solsona Palomar, VP of Software at Lucid, the Air UX 3.0 update reflects their commitment to the continuous improvement of the customer experience.
The revised platform adds seamless multitasking between apps and expands support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing phone-based tasks to occupy more screen real estate than before. This change enables users to access multiple features simultaneously.
On the left side of the instrument cluster, the upper display now opens to swipeable “cards” that group frequently used functions for quick access. This feature provides easy access to commonly used functions.
On the opposite side, the right display stretches CarPlay and Android Auto across its full width, giving drivers a larger area for calls, music and messaging without the previous box-in limitation. The increased screen space enhances the overall user experience.
The retractable lower touchscreen, known as the Pilot Panel, shows temporary cards when certain features are active. Users can swipe down from the top to reach common settings, or pull a card upward to expand the full app on that screen. It also provides easy access to settings and apps.
Profile switching is faster, linked-key management is more granular, and resetting the Guest profile has been simplified. They have also added a Favorites shortcut, an Auto Dark Mode that adapts to ambient light, and a seat-position feature that adjusts the seat when entering or exiting. These enhancements improve the overall functionality of the vehicle.
Owners interested in the upgrade should contact Customer Care to confirm eligibility and arrange installation. They can confirm whether their vehicle is eligible for the upgrade and schedule an installation appointment.
